My class of 1st-3rd graders and I really enjoyed reading MOMMA COMMA AND THE SOUP DRAMA. The exciting plot and bright illustrations kept my students engaged throughout. I found it very natural to emphasize the punctuation rules along the way because the author does a great job of weaving them in with the plot. It was also nice for the range of ages I taught. Older students with more knowledge of punctuation had fun hunting for and noticing details that matched up with what they already knew. For my younger students, it was great exposure to content that they would be learning more about during the year. The kids especially enjoyed reading the character profile of each punctuation mark at the end of the book and wanted to read about the other punctuation characters in future books. A series like this would be such a great addition to any elementary classroom.
